NOVA ACADEMY / Pathway

A first click can go a long way.

Nobody begins with a whole robot. They begin with one instruction, one question and the chance to try. Our pathway connects those small discoveries, from lower primary through SHS, so each new challenge has something familiar to build on.

THE JOURNEY / FOUR STAGES

Growing skills, one discovery at a time.

Age groups help describe the pathway. Experience matters too. If a learner is new to coding or has already been making things, tell us so we can discuss a sensible starting point.

LOWER PRIMARY / AGES 05–08

Start with play.

A story, a pattern or a character on screen gives younger learners something to explore. They practise putting actions in order and noticing what happens when that order changes.

Being able to explain a simple sequence is a useful foundation for the loops and events that come later.

UPPER PRIMARY / AGES 09–12

Let code become something real.

Learners explore repetition and events, then begin connecting their instructions to circuits. Lights, sounds and motors make the effect of a small change easy to notice.

Testing a first circuit helps learners ask better questions about what goes into a system and what comes out.

JHS / AGES 12–15

Sense. Decide. Respond.

Sensors and buttons introduce information from the outside world. With Nova, learners name the parts they wired and write instructions that connect an input to an action.

As projects become more involved, learners practise tracing behaviour and explaining why their program responds the way it does.

SHS / AGES 15–18

Bring the pieces together.

Team robotics builds connect sensing, decisions and movement. Learners work from Nova towards Arduino C++, exploring how familiar ideas are expressed in a more advanced language.

The challenge becomes planning, testing and improving a whole system, while sharing the thinking with a team.

Progress is more than moving to the next tool. It is asking a clearer question, finding a mistake or explaining an idea to someone else. Our programs give learners different ways to practise those skills: in school, after school and during the holidays.
